This presentation(webinar) draws on recent PhD research (thesis) from SLU on sustainable stormwater management, nature-based solutions, and decision support in existing urban areas.
The talk focuses on why technically promising solutions often depend on governance conditions such as land ownership, responsibilities, maintenance arrangements, funding, and collaboration across actors. Using examples from Swedish case studies in Malmö and Östersund, the presentation discusses how municipalities and utilities can make these conditions more visible early in assessment and planning. It also introduces a simple screening matrix for assessing whether indicators are not only relevant, but also feasible to use in a specific decision context.
The aim is to connect research findings to practical challenges faced by municipalities, utilities, consultants, and other actors working with climate adaptation and the urban water cycle.
